Biography of Whitney Renee' Scallorn: At the age of 19, Whitney Renee' is a very seasoned performer. She has been dancing since the age of 3 with Missy Hornbeak at The Dance Shop and now at Danceworx. She has been a member of The Star Steppers, Missy's performing and competition dance group since the age of 6, but also performed prior to her entrance into that group at competitions and Christmas performances. Dancing with Missy has afforded Renee' many opportunities to perform which include, but are not limited to the Super Durby Festival, Red River Revel, Christmas in Roseland, the LA State Fair, Marshall Christmas Lights, The Independence Bowl, Centaur Mardi Gras parade and Mardi Gras Ball. She has performed in Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana with The Star Steppers. The dance techniques, dancer mentality, and motivation which she has learned through years of dance have also helped her achieve in her school extracurricular activities where she has been a cheerleader, in pep squad and danceline member and officer. At C.E. Byrd she completed her 4 years there as captain of the C.E. Byrd Highstepper danceline. During her time at Byrd she was afforded the opportunity to perform at the 2004 Citrus Bowl in Florida and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in Nov. 2004 in New York City. She was also the Outstanding Performer and Officer at the 2004 ADTS officer camp in Texas and the Outstanding Performer and Dancer at the 2004 ADTS summer camp at Centenary College. Renee' credits much of her ability to the years she has studied with Missy where she has taken classes in Tap, Jazz, Clogging, Swing, Lyrical, and Ballet. She has received numerous trophies, ribbons, and medals. She was chosen in the fall of 2003 as a Power Pak performer for Star Power National Dance Competitions. Renee' began teaching all forms of dance classes with Missy from age 15-20 and was the hip hop instructor for 2 years. She is currently attending classes at NSU where she is majoring in Theatre with a concentration in dance. She is also a member of the NSU Rockettes who perform Christmas performances in Natchitoches. In June 2007 she opened her own dance studio in Natchitoches, La. "Renee's School of Dance."
